I’ve grown up listening to the Blues, so when Joyce Arora and Anil Mehta of StarKonnect Events & Promotions approached me to helm the event as its Festival Director, I found a great opportunity to be part of a fantastic initiative. . There are a whole host of talented young musicians taking to The Blues, and this Blues Concert series is just the initiative they need to put them in the spotlight. This is just the beginning of the Blues journey for us and we are looking forward to growing this property..
The standing ovation that the bands received at the end of the first event, provided a sense of achievement and a stronger belief in the entire team, that we were going in the right direction .
We have crafted SIMPLY THE BLUES as an experiential event, with an ambience to suit the music and the mood. These talented Indian Bluesmen add their own distinct flavor to the music, thereby providing the audience an eclectic and vibrant feel that they can immerse themselves into.
The two bands performing at the second edition of our concert series on the 21st of this month are sure to re-define the Blues set. The MINISTRY OF BLUES from Bangalore, open the evening. Comprising of Vinoo Matthew, Philipe Haydon, Rauf and Kishore, these guys beleive in interpreting the Blues classics in a style that's fresh, fast and furious. A high-energy act defines their gig...MoB is very, very serious about their work. They are so serious that they call themselves “non-professional, seriously professional musicians”. Blackstratblues brings on a set that’s stylish and new. Mumbai's favourite Axeman has a stunning technique, weaving subtly into the musical tapestry of completely realised songs, rather than mere vehicles for a vulgar display of ability. With golden tones and unassailable taste and touch, Mendonsa echoes Gilmour and Johnson. With a bunch of Special Guests set to jam with him on stage...SIMPLY THE BLUES is going to take on a whole new meaning.
